CBP Publishes Federal Register Notices to Start Enforcing Additional Tariffs on Canada and China

At this time, the tariffs—25% for certain Canadian goods and an additional 10% on certain China products—will take effect at 12:01am ET on Tuesday, February 4th.

Goods entered for consumption or withdrawn from a warehouse for consumption after 12:01am EST on February 4, 2025, that were loaded onto a vessel at the port of loading or were in transit on the final mode of transport before entering the United States prior to 12:01am EST on February 1, 2025, will not be subject to additional duty. Importers can take advantage of this exemption before 12:01am EST on March 7, 2025.

This morning President Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to delay the imposition of the 25% tariff on imports from Mexico for a month while talks between the two countries continue.

As of now, it is still unclear whether the 25% tariffs on Canada will be implemented by midnight tonight. President Trump is is set to speak with Canadian President Justin Trudeau later this afternoon.

Juno is actively monitoring the Federal Register for further updates, and we will share more information as it becomes available.
