PROJECT SHOWCASE
USA to Monterrey, Mexico
Project Start Date | April 10, 2023
Project End date | July 1, 2024
The project team secured a major opportunity through a longstanding and loyal client, showcasing Juno's trusted partnership and extensive experience with similar projects. This latest endeavor involved transporting 430 trucks of heavy machinery and miscellaneous components from multiple locations to Monterrey, Mexico, crossing the border via Laredo. The equipment, ranging from dry Van and flatbeds to step decks and RGN trailers, included specialized customs trailers for massive tanks requiring additional support.
The logistics project required meticulous planning for moving over-dimensional and overweight items from various locations in the USA and Canada to a new factory in Monterrey, MX. To accommodate the diverse and oversized nature of the cargo, our project team traveled to Laredo, TX, to collaborate with partner carriers and discuss the project's scope. The process of trucking cargo southbound from the USA to Mexico involves multiple steps, including loading at the shipper, inspection at the broker's yard, and document processing before crossing the border. This complex procedure often requires several days and involves three drivers: one for the US portion, one for crossing the border, and one for delivery in Mexico.
In Laredo, we also worked closely with a customs broker to streamline the cross-border clearance process. This involved facilitating various documents such as the Pedimento, Carta Porte, and DODA to facilitate smooth border crossing and minimize detention fees. Our team adapted to new requirements, including the mandatory Carta Porte document introduced at the beginning of 2024.
Throughout the project, our team managed on-site operations in both the USA and Mexico, handling everything from measuring and labeling equipment to creating detailed loading plans. We also traveled to Montreal to manage shipments originating from Canada, utilizing T&E (Transportation and Exportation) bonds to facilitate movement in-bond to Mexico. To address time-sensitive needs, some urgent cargo was airlifted to Mexico via LAX and expedited using U.S.-Customs bonded trucking. Throughout the project, we maintained close communication with partner carriers and customs brokers and adapting to evolving site conditions like construction and security demands.
This accomplishment not only strengthens our long-standing client relationships but also showcases Juno's ability to provide seamless and dependable logistics solutions. This project is a testament to our proficiency in managing complex logistics through daily tracking reports, multilingual coordination in English, Spanish, and Japanese, and our adaptability to evolving project requirements.
